Mission of the Month:
Crossnore Communities
Thank you to everyone who participated in our August Mission of the Month as we supported our sisters and brothers in Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes there. Your gifts of money (sent through UMCOR) and donated goods (sent through Hillsdale UMC’s network for transport and distribution) will provide much needed relief for those who suffered during this tragedy.
Our engagement project with Crossnore communities for this month is to provide $10 gift cards for gas, groceries, or Walmart. These will be given to the foster and adoptive parents as gifts at the Appreciation Dinner.
Another way to support Crossnore communities is to donate games which are used in the programs by the staff and children. Favorite games are: Connect 4, Family Meme Night, UNO, and Trouble.
Donations are needed at the church by SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13. As always, if you wish to make a monetary donation for Crossnore, you may do so through the church office designated for Crossnore. Thank you for supporting the children!
Crossnore has community events as well as program events. Some upcoming events that are open to the community are Miracle Heights Adventure Public Ropes Days on September 26 and October 31 (registration and fee required). Also, they are hosting Big Backyard Movie Night showing “The Rookie” on October 16 (free) on the recreation field with pre-film fun at 6:30 and film at dusk. Bring your own blankets and chairs, meals and snacks. In addition, the Thomas Memorial Trail is open to all from dawn to dusk daily.
